Term 2 update

17 June 2013

Kia ora whanau of Rima Whitu

Wow, it had been a massively busy term and with only 4 weeks to go until holidays, we still have a lot of work to do J

We are going to be building some sugar crystals as part of our class Antarctic display on Friday 21 June.  I would like to ask your child to bring in 3 cups of sugar and a glass jar.  You will be able to see the results at our celebration day.

In week 10, we will be inviting you in to view our learning for this term on our Celebration day.  This will be a day of fun and different activities and as part of that, we will be dressing up in theme for the day.  So any help you can give your child, with ideas around explorers, penguins, ice, cold, wind, whales or any other aspects of Antarctica would be great.  Looking forward to seeing them J

Just a reminder to keep up with the happenings in Ruma Whitu, please check out our blog.  You can also go to individual blogs through a link on this page.  http://www.burnhamrm7.blogspot.co.nz/

Any questions, please don’t hesitate to get back to me

Planting the Orchard- Recount

Today the enviro rangers planted trees. Joe taught us how to plant the orchard, he cut the black plastic band and we picked them up and put them in the hole. Then we put dirt into the gaps, Emelia and Haden planted different trees compared to us. Sophie had the lucky job ,she did the photos and they were fantastic. While I was planting a tree Joe came long and told me to kill all the grass grubs because they kill the plants and hurt the grass. When we were on the last tree we found lots of grass grubs. Everyone did not know what they were but I did and I told them to kill them and they did. When we were finished we named our plants I named mine apples. I felt really good about planting new trees for our school and so did everyone else. Demi + Jasmine
